06 Mar System 1-2-3 by Verpan: Il design come forma organica | Organic Design

Verpan introduce due delle poltroncine disegnate da Verner Panton nel 1973, appartenenti alla collezione System 1-2-3. Il progetto originale consisteva nella creazione di un sistema di arredi che combinasse diverse funzioni, offrendo soprattuto un elevato comfort. Le sedute dovevano essere caratterizzate da un design semplice e naturale, così da poter essere inserite all’interno degli ambienti come elementi funzionali. La collezione richiese 3 anni a Panton per il suo sviluppo, portando alla realizzazione di un concept basato su forma e funzione, definendo un tema da egli così descritto: “Ho voluto disegnare un elemento che cresca sul pavimento, trasformando gli arredi in qualcosa di organico e mai con quattro gambe”. La seduta era originariamente composta da un telaio leggero in acciaio, rivestito da tessuto. Verpan, con l’aggiunto di un’imbottitura in schiuma, ne ha aumentato il comfort di seduta e migliorato la “vestibilità” del tessuto.

Verpan introduces two chairs from the original 1-2-3 Series designed by Verner Panton in 1973. The original commission was to design a furniture programme that combined a series of different functions with the basic requirement of good sitting comfort. The chairs should also have a simple and natural design, so they could fit into any environment as a functional element. It took Verner Panton three years to develop the series, and the result was a unique chair concept where Panton worked systematically with design and function based on a defined theme, which he described as follows: “I wanted to design furniture that grows up out of the floor to turn the furniture into something organic and never with four legs.” The chair originally featured a light frame construction made from steel upon which fabric could be mounted. In the new version, Verpan has used foam rubber for increased sitting comfort and to ensure a tight and even upholstering.
